MELAKA, Jan 24 — Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the Melaka state election is expected to be held within the next two to 10 months. The deputy prime minister said the limited timeframe presents a major challenge for Umno leaders in the state to defend their previous strong showing.

The party and its allies secured more than three-quarters of the assembly seats. He stressed that maintaining success is often harder than achieving it, and urged party members to stay united and focused. Zahid was speaking at a programme with Telok Mas constituents in Alai today.
