French President Emmanuel Macron has asked the government to fast‑track legislation that would ban children under 15 from accessing social media platforms, aiming for enforcement by next fall. 

Macron Pushes Fast-Track Bill Banning Somed for Teens 

He praised lawmaker Laure Miller for leading the inquiry into TikTok’s effects and said the bill fulfills his long‑standing pledge to protect minors online. Macron emphasized that children’s “brains and emotions are not for sale” to foreign tech companies. 

The bill will be debated in the National Assembly under an accelerated procedure. France’s move follows Australia’s recent ban on under‑16s, part of broader efforts to curb online harassment and safeguard mental health.
