SHAH ALAM – The Selangor state government has cancelled and temporarily suspended the proposed pig farming project in Bukit Tagar, Hulu Selangor, following strong objections from the local community. Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said the State Executive Council (MMKN) decided last week to halt the plan after Infrastructure and Agriculture Exco Datuk Izham Hashim reported intense backlash.

The decision was reinforced by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s suggestion via phone call to cancel the project and find alternative locations or more suitable approaches. Amirudin admitted the announcement was made too early, sparking unnecessary debate, and the state will now engage stakeholders more thoroughly before proceeding. No new sites or details will be disclosed until final decisions are made.
