The Transport Ministry is considering making defensive driving courses mandatory, especially for drivers with suspended licences or traffic offences. Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook told Parliament the move aims to strengthen the driving curriculum by focusing on real-world skills and accident-prevention techniques.

He stressed that updates should go beyond test-passing, targeting safer and more responsible driving. The MyLESEN B2 programme will now prioritise secondary school students, ensuring proper motorcycle training.
Additionally, initiatives like MySafe School zones with 30km/h limits and a revamped helmet exchange programme will enhance student safety. These measures reflect a broader push to reduce accidents nationwide.
