Winter Storm Fern brought heavy snow and ice across the US, causing massive flight disruptions. Between Saturday and Monday morning, 19,450 flights were canceled, with Sunday marking the worst day for cancellations since the early COVID-19 pandemic.
Winter Storm Cancelling US Flights
Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport was hardest hit, losing three-quarters of its schedule, while Charlotte Douglas and Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson also saw thousands of cancellations.
New York’s three airports recorded nearly 1,500 each amid 10 inches of snow. American Airlines was the most affected carrier, canceling nearly 1,900 flights. Airlines responded with added seats, repositioned aircraft, and waived change fees to ease passenger disruption.
