Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has decided to keep the Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) at 2.75 per cent, saying the country’s economy remains resilient and inflation moderate. Governor Datuk Seri Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour noted that the stable price environment, supported by easing global cost pressures, has allowed BNM to maintain its current stance at the latest Monetary Policy Committee meeting.

The central bank sees the current OPR as appropriate and supportive of economic activity, reviewing data at each scheduled meeting and adjusting only if needed based on how global and domestic developments affect growth and inflation.
BNM emphasised that keeping inflation in check is key to protecting purchasing power, and said the bank remains vigilant of external risks that could influence the economic outlook.
