Amazon is discontinuing Amazon One, its palm-authentication service that allowed users to pay, check in at venues, and access loyalty cards with a simple hand scan. The service will remain available at supported retail locations until June 3, 2026, though some may phase it out earlier.
Amazon Ends Palm-Payment Services
Healthcare facilities will continue using it for patient check-ins until further notice. First tested in 2020 at Amazon Go stores in Seattle, Amazon One later expanded to Whole Foods. Its shutdown coincides with Amazon closing all Amazon Fresh and about 15 Amazon Go stores, alongside cutting 16,000 corporate jobs to streamline operations.
