Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar Dies in Plane Crash

NEW DELHI — Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was among five people killed when a Learjet 45 operated by VSR Airlines crashed while landing at Baramati Airport on Tuesday morning. The victims included two crew members and two government staff, one of them a security officer.

The aircraft, which departed from Mumbai, attempted a second landing after failing to spot the runway initially. Moments later, air traffic control reported flames near Runway 11. Emergency services rushed to the site, finding wreckage to the left of the runway. Authorities confirmed the jet had passed safety audits last year.
