GM’s Subscription Business Hits $2 Billion (RM7.8 Billion) in Revenue

General Motors is seeing strong growth in its software and subscription business, generating nearly $2 billion in the past nine months and securing about $5 billion in future commitments. CEO Mary Barra highlighted the success of services like OnStar, which now has 11 million subscribers, and Super Cruise, with half a million paying customers.

GM Subscription Business Hits RM7.8 Billion

GM says software margins are far higher than car sales, keeping about 70 cents per dollar earned. The company plans to expand features through updates rather than hardware changes, positioning subscriptions as a key revenue stream as EVs reduce traditional service profits.
