The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has introduced new road tax (LKM) rates for e-hailing vehicles, effective immediately, following the Ministry of Transport’s recalibration of renewal periods.

JPJ Introduces Road Tax Renewal Flexibility

Previously limited to six- or 12-month renewals, owners can now opt for shorter terms of one to five months, with prorated fees based on engine capacity. For example, cars under 1,000 cc in Peninsular Malaysia now pay RM2.70 for one month, RM3.40 for two months, and RM5 for three months.

The move aims to ease difficulties faced by drivers when their eVP permits near expiry. Six- and 12-month rates remain unchanged.
