Village Head’s Home Attacked with Homemade Bomb in South Sulawesi

A second-hand car newsly purchased bursts into flames in Bangkok...before it reaches its destination

An Indonesian village head was left shocked after her house was attacked with a homemade explosive and stones by unidentified youths in Luwu, South Sulawesi. The incident occurred at about 3am in Padang Kalua village while her two school-going children were asleep inside the house. The blast sparked a fire at the front of the residence and caused damage to windows and tiles.

The village head, identified as Umi, was in Jakarta at the time. She suspects the attack was linked to an unresolved dispute involving youths from her village and a neighbouring community, though the exact cause remains unclear. Police are investigating the incident. Image for illustration only
