About 200 veterans from the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) are set to join the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) in the first quarter of 2026, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said. The recruitment aims to strengthen border security using experienced personnel.

Ex-MAF veterans to bolster border protection capacity from early 2026

The Public Service Department (JPA) has approved the positions for former members of the Army, Navy and Air Force, with the recruitment process expected to begin soon, officials told reporters.

This initiative reflects Malaysia’s effort to enhance border enforcement capabilities amid evolving security challenges, as experienced forces bring specialised skills to the agency.
