KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian badminton legend Misbun Sidek has embarked on his first coaching project outside Malaysia, teaming up with Indian coach Rajinikanth from Tamil Nadu.

Misbun, 65, renowned for guiding Rashid Sidek, Roslin Hashim, and Lee Chong Wei to world No.1 status, is now based at the Hatsun Badminton Centre in Sivakasi, a city famed for its fireworks industry. Determined to produce another world-class player, Misbun said India’s growing pool of young talent inspired his decision. “I have created three world No.1s, and now I am searching for the fourth—perhaps here in India,” he declared.
