Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has proposed a voluntary Salary Deduction Scheme (SPG) to expand the nationwide Quran Waqf programme. Speaking at the National-Level 2026 Quran Waqf event, Zahid said small but consistent contributions from government employees, statutory bodies, and private sector workers could have a major impact.

He urged ANGKASA to manage deductions without charging fees and called on cooperative members to support Quran production and translation into 30 languages for minority Muslim communities abroad. Zahid also encouraged social media influencers to promote contributions, stressing the importance of digital outreach ahead of Ramadan.
