PETALING JAYA – A 41-year-old tourist from China was arrested after allegedly brandishing a knife at a convenience store in Ampang Hilir on Feb 1. Police said the suspect attempted to buy cigarettes but failed to pay with a bank ATM card, later returning to cause a disturbance and threaten staff.

Ampang Jaya OCPD ACP Khairul Anuar Khalid confirmed the arrest, noting the suspect knocked items off the counter before police intervened. The man has been remanded until Feb 5 to assist investigations under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation. Conviction may lead to jail or fines.
