Global investors are increasingly putting money into Malaysian assets, attracted by a softer U.S. dollar, geopolitical tensions and Malaysia’s political stability and economic fundamentals, analysts say. Foreign portfolio capital flows reached US$6.5 billion in 2025, the highest in Southeast Asia, driven by debt markets and rising confidence.

Malaysia draws strong foreign investment inflows amid economic growth and stability

Analysts note that Malaysia’s economic growth — likely around 4.9 % in 2025 — combined with a strengthening ringgit and a booming tech and data centre sector, has made the country a compelling alternative to regional peers for investors.

Goldman Sachs recently upgraded its outlook on Malaysian equities, citing favorable macroeconomic conditions paired with strong demographic and tech trends, particularly in AI-linked infrastructure and investment, boosting Malaysia’s regional appeal.
