KUALA LUMPUR – A Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) grassroots member from Langkawi, Adnan Hasan, has issued a strongly worded open letter to party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, responding to his recent remarks that members who “grumble” should leave the party.
Adnan, who has been with PKR for nearly three decades, argued that criticism from the ground reflects loyalty, not betrayal. “Yes, Dato’ Seri, we complain. We grumble. But Dato’ Seri, we do so because our hearts still care for this party. If we were silent, you would know what that means. Silence is not a sign of loyalty — it is a sign of disgust, despair, and readiness to walk away,” he wrote.

He raised three key concerns: grassroots voices being ignored, lack of opportunities for members without positions, and exclusion of long-time reformists from party activities. “Does losing an election mean losing the right to contribute and be respected?” he asked, adding that even simple gestures of inclusion were missing. “Not even a cup of coffee, Dato’ Seri. We see branch chiefs and committee members feasting, while others can only watch from the sidelines — present, loyal, but unseen.”
Adnan stressed his loyalty but warned that sidelining reformists risks leaving PKR with “structure, without the soul of the struggle.”
