KUALA LUMPUR: Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic has filed a lawsuit against AirAsia Bhd and Capital A Bhd for allegedly using his iconic “Kids on Bicycle” mural without permission. The artwork, a major tourist draw on Penang’s Armenian Street, was reportedly reproduced on an aircraft livery and featured in various campaigns since 2016.

Zacharevic claims infringement of copyright and moral rights, seeking legal recognition, removal of infringing materials, and monetary compensation. He expressed disappointment over repeated unauthorised use, including in emails, ads, and magazines, and said he felt compelled to act on behalf of artists facing similar exploitation.
