265 Delta Variants Identified In Two Weeks

Research institutes in Malaysia have identified 265 cases of variant of concern (VOC) namely Delta variant (B.1.617.2) from 16 to 29 August.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says the Institute of Medical Research (IMR) identified 39 Delta variant cases, Integrative Pharmacogenomics Institute (iPROMISE), Universiti Teknologi MARA (48 cases) and Institute of Health and Community Medicine, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (178 case).

“This brings the cumulative number of cases infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus categorized as VOCs and variants of note (VOI) to 1,221 cases. – Astro Awani
