New: 27000 Evacuated as Floods Hit Six Malaysian States

It’s a bleak, wet end of the year for thousands in Malaysia with torrential rain from the annual monsoon season having led to flooding in six Malaysian states, affecting nearly 27000 people who sought shelter in relief centres. The east coast states, particularly Kelantan and Terengganu, are the most severely impacted.

Riverbanks burst, and multiple districts faced rising waters, with several main roads in Terengganu rendered impassable. The flooding forced evacuations in Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang. Emergency relief efforts, including volunteers and resources, are underway. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced plans to visit Kelantan to assess the situation.
