Apple users are being warned to change their iPhone’s USB settings after reports revealed unsafe defaults in iOS 26. The new “Wired Accessories” feature automatically allows USB connections when the phone is unlocked, exposing devices to potential spyware risks through physical cable access.

Security experts say the default should be “Ask for New Accessories” to prevent unauthorized data transfers. Despite multiple iOS updates, Apple has not corrected the issue. Users are urged to go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Wired Accessories and select “Always Ask” or “Ask for New Accessories” to safeguard their devices from potential exploitation.
