RM8.9 Million Worth of Fishing Vessels Seized for Violations

The state Fisheries Department seized 14 fishing vessels worth RM8.9 million for violations under the Fisheries Act 1985. The Integrated Operation for the Central Zone Fishing Vessel Monitoring and Surveillance Programme, organized by Kampung Acheh’s Monitoring, Control, and Surveillance Unit and Putrajaya’s Conservation and Fisheries Protection Division, took place from Dec 9 to 13, 2024.

RM8.9 Million Worth of Fishing Vessels Seized for Violations

Thirty personnel and five sea assets were involved. Offenses included unlicensed vessels, foreign crews, fishing within restricted zones, and inactive tracking devices. The detained vessels are under further investigation at Kampung Acheh. The department emphasized the seriousness of such violations.
