KPMG US is reshaping its internship program to emphasize human-centric skills for the AI era. At its Lakehouse training facility in Florida, audit interns will focus less on technical coursework and more on judgment, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

CEO Tim Walsh said the goal is to prepare interns to interpret AI outputs, make sound decisions, and communicate effectively with clients. The program includes simulations, team competitions, and networking workshops.

With about 1,000 audit interns expected this summer, KPMG hopes to build adaptability and leadership. The shift reflects broader changes across the Big Four as AI transforms junior roles.
