ABIM worried ‘ministerial-level’ posts a political reward

1 min read

ABIM is worried that the Ministerial level appointments we are seeing in Malaysia will be used as a “political reward”/consolation gift to any MPs who support someone to become Prime Minister.

“Such practices will set a bad precedent for our democracy and must be avoided at all costs,” says ABIM in a media statement.

ABIM says it is referring to the manner in which Prime Ministers have appointed many individuals to positions with the rank of Minister since the Sheraton Move last year.

“These Ministerial level appointments represent an unhealthy new political culture which will affect good governance and negatively impact our nation’s finances.”
