Activist Cikgu Chandra Now Confirms Conversion to Islam

PETALING JAYA, Sept 5, 2026 – Activist S. Chandrasegaran, better known as Cikgu Chandra, has confirmed that he has embraced Islam, publicly reciting the shahadah in a video posted on Facebook yesterday.

“Is it true that Cikgu Chandra has converted to Islam? That statement is indeed true. I have recited the shahadah. There is no God but Allah, and Prophet Muhammad is His messenger,” he said.

Chandra explained that he is now beginning to study and recite the Quran, asking the public to give him space to adjust. “I am still reading and learning the Quran. Give me room to be calm, give me guidance. Insya-Allah, you will see a better Chandra,” he added.

He also requested time to resolve personal matters, including domestic issues and court cases, and said he would meet with fellow Muslims after a six‑month period of adjustment.
