New: PAS Membership Surpasses One Million, Says Takiyuddin

KOTA BHARU, Sept 5, 2026 – PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan announced that the party’s membership has now exceeded one million, reflecting growing support nationwide.

Speaking at the 75th PAS Jubilee Grand Lecture at the Pusat Tarbiah Islamiah Kelantan (PUTIK), Takiyuddin said the figure does not include non-member supporters and overseas sympathisers, which he estimated could reach three to four million.

“Former UMNO members, individuals from other parties, and even those previously uninterested in politics – including athletes and artists – have joined PAS,” he noted.

Takiyuddin reminded the audience that PAS is not a new party but one with a 75-year history, founded in the 1950s by earlier generations who championed Islam. “We pray that those who established this Islamic-based party will be rewarded greatly by Allah SWT,” he said.

He stressed that PAS’s Islamic struggle continues to be inherited and upheld today.
