Attorney General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar clarified that the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) has not interfered in the Ministry of Home Affairs’ (KDN) decision to return Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
AG Denies
Speaking at an event in Kota Bharu, the Attorney General emphasized that the AGC’s role is strictly limited to providing legal advice when officially requested. He added that the AGC has not issued any formal counsel on the matter as it has not been officially referred to them, maintaining that Shuhaily’s placement remains an internal administrative matter under the ministry’s purview.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail finalized the decision last week to end Shuhaily’s cadre secondment as Director-General of the Single Border Agency (AKPS). This administrative transfer follows court proceedings ten days ago, where Shuhaily pleaded not guilty at the Sepang Magistrate’s Court to two charges under Section 323 of the Penal Code for allegedly assaulting two police officers at KLIA Terminal 1 on September 28. He faces up to a year in prison or a RM2,000 fine per charge if convicted.
