Five men have been detained over suspected diesel misappropriation after enforcement officers raided a private jetty in Manjung, Perak, Bernama reported. The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) said two boats and other items worth a combined RM587,219.45 were seized in the operation.
Diesel Misappropriation Raid at Manjung Jetty
KPDN enforcement director-general Datuk Azman Adam said the raid was carried out on Tuesday (Oct 27) under the integrated Ops Tiris 4.0, following complaints of suspicious activity involving controlled goods.
Officers found a boat transferring diesel to another vessel at the jetty. An inspection uncovered several tanks holding a liquid suspected to be diesel, estimated at 3,592 litres, along with pumps and hoses believed to have been used to move the fuel between the two boats, he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 30).
Two local men and three foreign nationals were detained to assist in investigations. Apart from the boats and the diesel, officers seized the fuel-transfer equipment, relevant documents and a mobile phone.
The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961. Azman said further investigation would be carried out to trace the source of the diesel and identify everyone involved.
Ops Tiris Nationwide Results
In the same statement, Azman said Ops Tiris 4.0 ran nationwide from March 16 to Oct 28 this year. Over that period, KPDN carried out 128,239 inspections, recorded 1,587 cases and made 522 arrests.
Controlled goods worth RM15.31 million were seized during the operation, while the total value of all seizures reached RM79.2 million, he said.
