Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh firmly stated that Umno will not compromise on race, religion, and royalty, emphasizing Islam’s constitutional status and Malay rights. Responding to Urimai’s P Ramasamy, who blamed Umno’s ethnic and religious dominance for MCA and MIC’s declining support, Akmal defended Umno’s stance. “If defending Islam and Malays as enshrined in the Constitution causes you not to want to support Umno, go ahead, we don’t care!!
“This is a country where the federal religion is Islam and the rights of the Malays are enshrined in its Constitution, so please respect that before you want us to respect you!” he said.
