Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh says he has raised almost RM180,000 by auctioning his motorcycle and the tilapia from his pond. The money will go toward the RM300,000 he owes Seputeh MP Teresa Kok after losing his defamation suit.
In a Facebook post, Akmal said he would combine the proceeds with his family’s savings to pay the damages and legal costs, and expects to settle the amount by next week. His Honda X-ADV motorcycle sold for RM150,000, while the fish brought in almost RM30,000.

Akmal also posted a video thanking the public for their donations, even though he had repeatedly urged supporters not to contribute. He said one person gave RM5,000.
He denied the auction was a publicity stunt to solicit donations, saying he only meant to sell his assets because his savings were insufficient.
He added that he would seek donors’ permission to redistribute their contributions to those in greater need, and would publish details of how every sen is spent.
The Melaka High Court ruled in Kok’s favour on Monday, ordering Akmal to pay RM250,000 in damages and RM50,000 in legal costs.
The case stemmed from his September 2024 remarks calling her an “old nyonya” and suggesting a “non-halal” label on her forehead, after she warned that his halal certification proposal could burden smaller businesses.
