Akmal now tears into Tun M and his Malay unity agenda

Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh rejected former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s invitation to join his new Malay unity alliance, citing Mahathir’s alleged past attempt to ban Umno. In a Facebook post, Akmal expressed skepticism about Mahathir’s motives, warning that unity efforts must be sincere and not driven by personal gain. Mahathir, who denied last August any attempt to ban Umno, announced the alliance to “restore Malay power” in government, inviting Umno members but not the party itself. The coalition, including PAS and Bersatu, aims to protect Malay political and economic interests, but is not a political party.
