Midair Collision: American Airlines Jet and Black Hawk Helicopter Crash

An American Airlines regional passenger jet and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter collided midair near Reagan Washington National Airport, crashing into the Potomac River. Multiple bodies were recovered, and fatalities were confirmed.

The PSA Airlines jet, operating Flight 5342 for American Airlines, had 60 passengers, two pilots, and two crew members. The helicopter had three soldiers. This incident follows a series of near-miss incidents, raising aviation safety concerns. 

A search and rescue operation is ongoing. All takeoffs and landings at the airport were halted. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
