Transport Minister Anthony Loke has refused to confirm whether Thursday’s monthly Transport Ministry gathering was his final appearance as a minister, responding to reporters with a pointed question: “How do you know this is the last?”
Loke said he had never described the gathering as his final one and asked reporters to wait until Sunday before discussing the matter further.
Anthony Loke’s “Wait Until Sunday” Remark Fuels Fresh Political Speculation
Loke appeared relaxed during the event and joked that he was more focused on celebrating Transport Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri M Jana Santhiran’s birthday.
His comments nevertheless come ahead of the DAP national congress, where delegates will decide the party’s position on whether to remain in the Federal Government until the current parliamentary term ends.
The congress is scheduled for Sunday, with 4,264 delegates from 1,704 eligible branches expected to vote on the motion. Loke’s remarks have therefore added another layer of intrigue ahead of the decision.
For now, he has made no announcement about his own position, leaving the political question open until the weekend.
