Anthony Loke Maintains Decision to Resign as Transport Minister

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has confirmed that he remains firm on his decision to resign as Transport Minister.

Speaking in Hangzhou on Wednesday, Loke said he would submit his resignation letter to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim after returning to Malaysia from China. The Seremban MP said the decision had already been made.

Anthony Loke to Submit Resignation Letter After Returning from China

Loke had announced his intention to leave the Cabinet following the Federal Territories Pardons Board decision involving former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

He said other DAP ministers and deputy ministers would remain in the Unity Government. Loke is currently accompanying Anwar on a three-day working visit to Shanghai and Hangzhou at the invitation of the Chinese government. 

Anwar has previously said he would not rush into a decision over Loke’s resignation and hoped the Transport Minister would reconsider his position.

Loke’s latest statement indicates that he intends to proceed with the resignation once he returns home. The matter will now await the formal submission of his resignation letter to the Prime Minister.
