In a dramatic revelation, Tun Daim Zainuddin’s widow, Naimah Khalid, shared that her late husband once defended Anwar Ibrahim during his tribulations — even dusting his 1970s practicing suit (lawyer) to visit Anwar in prison upon Anwar’s request. Only lawyers and family members are allowed to visit prisoners.
Daim Hurt
After Anwar’s release in 2018, he reportedly visited Daim’s home frequently, promising, “When I become Prime Minister, don’t go anywhere — I want you as my economic advisor.” But that friendship soured after Anwar took office. Naimah said Daim felt betrayed by a “witch-hunt” launched by Anwar’s administration, which included investigations and accusations of illicit wealth. She also mentioned that Daim’s response to the lawsuits was: “I am hid friend, why is he saying all this about me?”
