Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has praised the National Day 2026 celebrations in Putrajaya, describing the event as a “great show” while thanking everyone involved in making the 69th National Day celebration a success.
He also spent time meeting members of the public after the colourful parade and performances.
Over 100,000 gather as Putrajaya hosts colourful National Day celebration
Anwar walked more than 500 metres around Dataran Putrajaya, shaking hands and taking photographs with members of the public.
The celebration drew more than 100,000 visitors, with Malaysians from different backgrounds gathering to mark the country’s independence under the theme “Malaysia Madani: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati.”
The parade involved 10,819 participants across 76 contingents, alongside 22 marching bands, 11 decorated vehicles, 328 land, sea and air assets and 112 service animals.
The event also featured 22 electric vehicles. The celebration followed Anwar’s announcement that the BUDI95 basic monthly quota would return to 300 litres, benefiting more than 16 million subsidised RON95 users.
