UMNO members must end the ‘sate politics’ culture to regain strength ahead of the 16th General Election, said Secretary-General Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki. Using the analogy of ‘sate politics’, he described internal divisions as similar to having a “skewerer, fan waver, griller, and flipper” – all fuelling conflicts and creating factions within the party. Speaking at the Bukit Gantang UMNO division meeting, he urged members to focus on unity instead of provoking disputes among leaders and grassroots. Asyraf stressed that UMNO must return to its core struggle of protecting religion, race, and country, and avoid anything diverting from that mission.
