NUBE Urges Removal of RM1 Interbank ATM Withdrawal Fee

The National Union of Bank Employees (NUBE) has urged Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet) and its shareholders, including Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and 11 banks, to remove the RM1 interbank ATM withdrawal fee.

NUBE Urges Removal of RM1 Interbank ATM Withdrawal Fee

Reintroduced in February 2022, the fee burdens low-income families recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic. NUBE argues that the fee disproportionately affects those least able to afford it. PayNet had waived the fee during the pandemic.

NUBE has written to PayNet’s shareholders requesting the removal or exemption of the fee, but no firm commitments have been made.
