Federal Court judge Tan Sri Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh is reportedly not in consideration to replace retiring Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tun Mat, according to a Pakatan Harapan (PH) MP. The unnamed MP said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim confirmed during a PH meeting that Terrirudin’s name is not on the list of candidates to be submitted to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Speculation had risen that Terrirudin, Malaysia’s former 12th Attorney-General, might fill the vacancy. His name also does not appear on the candidate list for President of the Court of Appeal or Chief Judge of Malaya. Meanwhile, Rafizi Ramli and eight MPs are pushing for a Royal Commission of Inquiry into alleged judicial appointment interference.
