NGO Distributes RM150 Vouchers in Back-to-School Aid Event

An NGO held a “Back-to-School” aid event at Klinik Derma Sivasanta on River Road, distributing RM150 vouchers to 120 children from B40 families and orphanages. Penang Hindu Association president Datuk P. Murugiah highlighted that many families, struggling below the minimum wage of RM1,700 monthly, face high living costs.

He noted families often send their children to orphanages due to financial strain. The event aimed to help children stay in school and included free spectacles, laptops, and tablets. Murugiah urged continued support to alleviate poverty, with some aid recipients now assisting the association.
