Belarusian Sprinter Gets Polish Visa

Kuala Lumpur: The rebelling Belarusian Sprinter Krystina Tsimanouskaya was seen entering the Polish embassy in Tokyo after spending the night at an airport hotel after claiming she was seized by officials from her own country on Sunday.

Poland gave her a humanitarian visa after refusing to board a Minsk-bound flight from Tokyo. She ran to the Japanese police on Sunday saying she is being kidnapped by the son of the Belarus leader. She was competing in the Tokyo Olympics for her country.

Sky News spoke to Tsimanouskaya’s husband, Arseniy Zdanevich, who left Belarus last night for Ukraine.

“We never had any connections, never supported the opposition. We’re just normal sportspeople, we’re just devoted to sports and we’re not interested in the opposition movement,” her husband Arseniy Zdanevich, who is also an athlete, said.
