China EV companies in negotiations to invest in Perlis

1 min read

Several Chinese companies are in talks with Malaysian authorities about investing in Perlis, particularly in Chuping near Padang Besar. These investments, focused on the electric vehicle (EV) sector, are still in negotiation stages, and their timeline remains uncertain, according to Malaysian Investment Development Board’s (MIDA) Kedah and Perlis director, Mohd Rushdan Mohd Ghazali. The Chuping Valley Industrial Area (CVIA) targets four key clusters: green industry, halal industry, electric vehicles, and renewable energy. Additionally, many Chinese firms are eyeing Kulim and Sungai Petani in Kedah for semiconductor investments, aiming to expand development across the region.
