Foreign Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohammad Hasan told Parliament that more countries have lifted Level 3 travel warnings against visiting eastern Sabah, reflecting confidence in Malaysia’s border security.
Countries Ease Travel Warnings Sabah
Previously, 25 nations had issued advisories due to kidnappings and piracy by armed militants. Mohammad credited the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) and joint police‑military operations for deterring transborder crime, noting that incidents of kidnap‑for‑ransom or piracy are no longer occurring.
He said many governments have now downgraded their advisory to Level 2, meaning travel is permitted with caution. The region, known for its beaches, is regaining international trust.
