The High Court will decide on November 11 if the Malaysian Bar can proceed with its legal challenge against the Pardons Board’s decision to reduce former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 12-year jail term and RM210 million fine. The Malaysian Bar seeks a judicial review, arguing that the January 29 decision is unlawful. They aim to prevent Najib from applying for a pardon until he accepts responsibility for his actions. The Attorney General’s Chambers contends that the King’s power to grant pardons is non-justiciable. The Malaysian Bar insists they are challenging the Pardons Board’s decision, not the King’s.
