1 min read

Malaysia Airlines has announced the tragic death of cabin crew member Norzana Hanim Hamzah, found deceased in her Tokyo hotel room on May 20th. Norzana was in Tokyo on a layover after a flight to Narita Airport and was preparing for her return journey to Kuala Lumpur.

The cause of death is unconfirmed, but it is speculated that she may have experienced a fall.

How common are incidents like these involving crew members?

Just yesterday, a Singapore Airlines flight went into turbulence that unfortunately ended the life of a 73-year-old man.

Incidents involving the death of cabin crew members during layovers are relatively rare in the airline industry. While the exact statistics are not readily available, such occurrences are not common and are usually met with significant attention and investigation due to their uncommon nature.

Airlines have strict safety protocols and support systems in place to ensure the well-being of their crew members during layovers.
