A senior DAP leader has urged Pakatan Harapan (PH) and the party to provide a clear explanation for Rosmah Mansor’s recent acquittal on 17 charges of money laundering and tax evasion. The leader (speaking to FMT) warned that the lack of transparency could harm PH’s reformist image and erode public trust in its commitment to justice. DAP, which heavily campaigned on anti-corruption reforms during the last election, faces backlash, particularly from urban and young voters, for the perceived lack of accountability.

Another DAP assemblyman criticized the timing of the court’s decision, which could undermine Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s administration. Both leaders noted a growing voter disillusionment, citing low turnout in the recent Sungai Bakap by-election as a worrying sign for PH’s electoral prospects. They called for swift and decisive action to address public concerns and maintain voter trust.
The High Court had acquitted Rosmah, citing illegal and flawed charges. The judge also noted that the tax-related charges were premature as an appeal was still pending before the Special Commissioners of Income Tax.
