David Chung, owner and chairman of Amare Global, reflects on his journey from immigrating to New York at age 12 to becoming a multimillion‑dollar entrepreneur. Inspired by his mother, who built a successful gift shop and later a pharmacy, Chung learned early lessons about business and opportunity.

At 23, he bought a small video rental store and gradually expanded into cosmetics, eventually shifting into research, design and manufacturing. He later sold two companies for tens and hundreds of millions but says money was never his motivation. Now 66, he continues building businesses and hopes to use his wealth to give back, especially to the Korean American community.
