Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has denied claims that it plans to remove Chinese characters from the Petaling Street entrance arch signboard. In a statement, DBKL clarified that the allegations are false and that current signage complies with guidelines and policies. It assured that any changes to signage follow the Federal Territory Advertisement By-Laws 1982 and consider heritage, culture, and community needs. The public was urged not to believe baseless claims. This follows MCA president Wee Ka Siong’s assertion, citing a traders’ association leader, that DBKL was considering such a move.
