Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim has renewed calls for amendments to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Act 1991, urging greater flexibility for contributors to access their annual dividends.
Debate over EPF Withdrawals
He proposed that 100% of EPF dividends for 2025 be credited directly into Account 3, the flexible withdrawal account introduced in 2024. Shahidan argued this would ease cost-of-living pressures and provide liquidity for festive seasons and urgent needs.
While EPF officials stressed current laws prevent such diversion, Shahidan said the Act must evolve to reflect present realities. He cited contributors preferring immediate survival over long-term returns, calling for special withdrawals.
