Raya Eve Outing: Tun M and Dr Siti Hasmah Tour Refurbished 129-Year-Old Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad
Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tun Dr Siti Hasmah shared a nostalgic moment on the eve of Hari Raya Aidilfitri by touring the newly refurbished Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad (BSAS). In a video posted on March 20, the 98-year-old statesman was seen receiving updates on the extensive restoration works completed under the Warisan KL initiative.
Heritage Landmark
The visit was filled with lighthearted banter, as Dr Siti Hasmah noted she “grew up” around the area, while their son, Tan Sri Mokhzani, jokingly asked about room availability for her. The 129-year-old iconic landmark, which reopened on February 2, 2026, served as the backdrop for Dr Mahathir’s festive message to Malaysians. This public appearance follows Dr Mahathir’s recovery from a hip fracture sustained earlier in January.
